Preschooler Program (3-4 Year Olds)

Part of the preschool experience is to find out new things everyday. Our program uses weekly and/or bi-monthly themes to educate and develop each child while leading them forward through a variety of hands-on learning experiences. The ark is a place that focuses on the learning, but never forgets the importance of fun. Preschool at the ark helps children by offering experiences in language, math, science, and other areas, which in turn creates a balanced curriculum. Our goal is to provide that Christian environment with an emphasis on fun learning, and in turn promotes that foundation for the future and a “love of learning”. 

3-Year-Old Developmental Milestones

·         Eye-hand coordination comes more easily

·         Gains more control of large motor skills enjoying:  running, jumping, stair climbing, throwing, and kicking

·         Can ask questions that are relevant to events

·         Demonstrates awareness for the feelings of others

·         Shows interest in fine motor skills such as coloring, cutting, and beginning drawing

·         Can use sentences to put together a simple story

·         Shows interest in using different creative materials to form new objects

4-Year-Old Developmental Milestones

·         Draws recognizable objects

·         Masters language to describe activities, stories, and spatial relationships

·         Repeats fine motor activities and masters

·         Becomes aware of own effect on the emotions of others and tests this concept

·         Demonstrates sense of autonomy

·         Begins to develop longer periods of activity without needed rest
